The University of Southern Queensland continues to climb the international rankings, this time in the 2024 QS World University Rankings.
The University has moved up more than 200 places to sit in the 410th position – the greatest jump of any university in Australia.
The 2024 edition of the rankings analysed the performance of the world’s top 1503 universities in 104 locations.
The University of Southern Queensland now places in the top 28 per cent of the world’s leading universities that gained a place on the QS World University Rankings – the top 2 per cent of all universities worldwide.
The University’s exceptional research success continued to be the main driver in the rankings acceleration.
The strongest indicator was citations (original research information), jumping 112 places to the 209th position to reflect the quality of the University’s research impact and publications.
The University of Southern Queensland also performed well in international indicators, reflecting internationalisation and global reach.
Ranking 240th in international research network displays strong research partnerships and connections across the globe.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Geraldine Mackenzie said this outstanding result was built on a commitment to world-changing research and firmly placed the University on the global stage.
“Our University is delivering world-class research, a broad education program, and meaningful engagement with communities, both domestically and internationally,” Professor Mackenzie said.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) Professor John Bell said this outcome was largely a result of a strong focus on research quality.
“Citations are one of the leading metrics when it comes to determining research impact. The high score in the ‘International Research Network’ category means that this impact is global."
This result comes from an equally outstanding result in the 2023 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, where the University of Southern Queensland ranks in the top 301-350 band.
